Theory Versus Practice

We all want to be a servant - until we are treated like one.
We all want to be fools for Christ - until we look foolish.
We all want to be humble - until our pride gets hurt.

  1. Yep-- and we may say that we'll go anywhere, do anything & be anything for Him, but when it comes down to the wire...

incarnational ministry is great for sanctication! (so is parenting! :-)and hopefully we'll leave at least a bit of the fragrance of Christ rather than just the smell of our own sweat among the people He calls us to live among... What do you think?

  2. How true...it is easy to be "foolish" for Christ when those you fellowship with are, but what about around your educated, worldly successful, friends and family? Ouch... the true heart of pride gets exposed. "I will be even more undiginified than this!" paraphrasing David.

  3. Boy, do I agree with that.

I have an even harder time, though, around religious people who expect me to be the same as they are. I don't want to be rude or disagreeable, so I keep quiet instead. By the end, I am ready to explode.
